Happy 1st Anniversary!

THANK YOU READERS, SUPPORTERS, AND SUBSCRIBERS!!!

A year ago today, April 10th, marks the first ever Written By Algae blog post!

How to celebrate????

RECAP & CHALLENGE TIME!!

While juggling being a single mom & my real estate business, I've put writing on the back-burner.

To date I've attended, (tele-conference style), my writers group only 3x this past year! The members always welcome me back with open ears, and I'm beyond grateful for their support and critiques of what I have written.

On January 15th I had submitted a 1500 word limit short-story to an online, international, contest. The coveted first prize consisted of $3000.00, a writing workshop trip, and to be published!!

I waited until the due date to write my piece. Procrastination usually brings out some great writing under pressure, but terrible editing and submission timing...

Is Procrastination evidence of my lack of commitment and possibly- faith in myself?

While I've received great encouragement and feedback on the short story itself, I didn't even place in the top 10... This was a wake up call. If I love writing so much, why is it the least nurtured? Taken for granted? Am I delusional-ly over-confident, or slightly self-sabotaging out of fear in failure?

Or simply Priorities?

As Kirk Cameron once wrote in a fan letter to me in 1987, 'there are only so many hours in a day.'

365 Day Reflection

I began this blog last year while in quarantine. I felt inspired to do SOMETHING with my passion and voice while our world outside was paused.

My writing risks seemed irrelevant when toilet paper shortages were the foremost posts on social media.

I found it liberating to write freely.

I hope to continue writing with quarantine mentality:

as much, and as often, as my authentic self will dare...

Anniversaries and dates can be empowering checkpoints.

A mental moment of where we were, where we are at, and a celebration of our growth. They can serve as an appreciation of the past-and an acknowledgement of how short this life is...

Often anniversary dates can bring pain or sadness, but simultaneously can bring much needed love & unity from supportive living loved ones...

If I hadn't glanced at my blog last night, I would not have realized today is my first post anniversary... I've pushed myself to get this done while juggling... the balls in the air right now shall remain nameless LOL :)

April Adulting Challenge

Behind the scenes, I've got another challenge going termed: More Adulting in April.

The earlier Spring Equinox and New Moon in Aries this week has amped up my inner Get 'Er Done.

Stepping up business practices, pushing myself (cooking more! EEK!), less spending, more saving, more Love...

But Adulting isn't always budgeting, working, and domesticated chores...

Since the weather has warmed, we are enjoying the sand between our toes, dirt under our nails, and bike rides in the rain.

I have been finding this past week that sometimes more Adulting brings out more Inner-child:

Enjoying playtime after a hard day's work <3

Readers: If you have a passion you've put off, I challenge you for 10 days to post it, do it, love it and write to me about it!!! writtenbyalgae@gmail.com !!! Celebrate your gift!!!

Thank you, again, Readers!

Cheers to a year's worth of t's crossed and dotted i's !!!

xoxoxo
